Story Line

Albania 1997 - Gjirokaster, a town in the southern part of the country, on the edge of a civil war. The retired photographer PETRO is the witness of a tragedy which he captures by coincidence on film with his Super 8 camera. He travels from his native village to the capital of Tirana to have the film developed as quickly as possible.

The TV journalist BERTI, searching for a "hot story", causes the death of an old man (Noke) and his granddaughter when filming in the war-like conditions in Gjirokaster.

In the bus going to Tirana, Petro meets Berti and his girlfriend Viola who reminds him of his great love during his student days in Paris. During an attack on the bus Petro is even able to save Berti's life. Petro, Berti and Viola continue their journey together. But none of them yet know that they are a danger for one another. It is only when the film is developed that Petro learns about the truth behind the tragedy and becomes embroiled in a conflict of conscience. He tries to return home as soon as posible to show the film to the public and Noke's family. Meanwhile, Berti has been put under pressure by his station boss and is supposed to destroy the evidence since the general media reports are presenting the death of the two inhabitants of Gjirokaster in another context - Noke has been transformed from a victim into a murderer.

The return to Gjirokaster turns into a fast and life-threatening enterprise for Petro. He is almost at his goal of screening the rehabilitation of his friend and neighbour Noke in Gjirokaster's stadium when his whole plan looks in danger of failing ...
